Common questions
What does separation anxiety look like?
Barking, howling, destroying things near the door or toileting indoors soon after you leave can be signs. Other causes are possible, so look at when and how it happens.
Does leaving the TV on help?
For some dogs it takes the edge off, but it rarely fixes true anxiety. Short, gradual practice at being alone is the usual core of a plan.
When should I call the vet?
If your dog hurts itself, stops eating, or the signs are severe or sudden, ask your vet or a qualified behaviorist. This is general information, not veterinary advice.
