Part 1: How to use this agenda
Welcome. This is a short, structured way for two people who share money, or are about to, to have a first full conversation about it. It gives you an order to follow, a time for each topic, a few ground rules, and a form to fill in afterward so the conversation does not evaporate by Thursday.
What this does, and what it does not
It does:
- Give you six topics in a sensible order, with about 45 minutes in total.
- Give you opening lines and questions for each topic, so nobody has to improvise.
- Give you ground rules that keep the talk calm and fair to both of you.
- Give you a one-page summary to fill in together at the end.
It does not:
- Tell you how to invest, which account to open, or what you should do with your money.
- Replace a financial planner, tax preparer, attorney or counselor.
- Promise any result. It is a tool for talking, and what you decide is up to you.
