Part 1: Start here, and Lesson 1: Roles
Welcome. This is a seven-lesson text course for planning the logistics of the first 12 weeks after a baby arrives. You can build the whole plan over a weekend, or one lesson per evening. At the end you will have a written plan you can share with a partner, relatives, friends or a helper.
What this course does and does not do
It does:
- Help you decide who does what: roles, money and leave, meals, home, visitors, nights, and check-ins.
- Give you about 20 printable pages of fill-in worksheets, three worked examples, and a one-page cheat sheet.
- Offer both a two-parent version and a single-parent version of every lesson, so you can use the one that fits.
- Give you kind, firm words for the conversations that are hardest to start.
It does not:
- Give recovery, body, feeding, sleep-safety or mental health advice. For all of that, follow your own clinician's guidance. This course covers only the practical side: people, time, money, food, and the house.
- Replace legal, financial or benefits advice. Leave rules and paperwork vary by employer and state, so the money lesson is made of questions to ask, not answers.
- Promise an easy first 12 weeks. A written plan helps you see what is covered, what is not, and who to ask.
