Method
- Combine the oats, water or milk, and salt in a small pot.
- Cook over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring, until thick.
- Stir in half of the banana and the cinnamon.
- Pour into a bowl. Top with the rest of the banana and the honey.
- Let it settle for an hour or so before you head out.
This is a gentle, simple breakfast for early runs. It is lower in fat and fiber than many breakfasts, which a lot of people find sits easier before moving.
Everyone’s stomach is different, so try it on easy days first. If it feels like too much, eat half and have a banana on the side.
Make it the night before as overnight oats if mornings are tight. Eat it cold or warm it briefly.
